Specialized care for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) in children, adolescents, and adults.
Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is an eating disorder characterized by highly selective eating habits, disturbed feeding patterns, or an intense lack of interest in food.
Unlike other eating disorders, ARFID is not driven by body image concerns or a desire to lose weight. Instead, it is often rooted in sensory sensitivities, fear of aversive consequences (like choking or vomiting), or a general lack of appetite.
Our registered dietitians use a gentle, highly individualized approach to ARFID treatment. We focus on expanding food variety at a comfortable pace without pressure or shame.
We work collaboratively with patients, families, and therapists to address sensory challenges, reduce food-related anxiety, and ensure nutritional needs are met through gradual exposure and support.
We offer outpatient in-person care in Quincy, MA and telehealth across MA, NY, NH, RI, CT, FL, SC, and NC.
