    Binge Eating Disorder Treatment

Compassionate, weight-neutral nutrition counseling to help you stop binge eating and find food freedom.

    Understanding Binge Eating Disorder (BED)

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is the most common eating disorder in the United States. It involves recurrent episodes of eating large quantities of food, often quickly and to the point of discomfort, accompanied by feelings of a loss of control.

Unlike bulimia, binge eating episodes are not followed by compensatory behaviors like purging. BED is often accompanied by intense feelings of shame, guilt, and distress, which can fuel a cycle of restrictive dieting and subsequent bingeing.

    Our Treatment Approach

Traditional weight loss diets often exacerbate binge eating. That's why our dietitians use a Health at Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating approach. We focus on healing your relationship with food rather than restrictive dieting.

Treatment involves ensuring you are adequately nourished throughout the day to prevent biological urges to binge, identifying emotional triggers, and developing coping mechanisms that don't rely on food. We provide a safe, judgment-free space to explore your eating patterns.

    Common Signs of BED

    • Eating unusually large amounts of food in a specific amount of time
    • Feeling that your eating behavior is out of control
    • Eating even when you're full or not hungry
    • Eating rapidly during binge episodes
    • Eating secretly or alone out of embarrassment
    • Feeling disgusted, depressed, or guilty after overeating
